Around the House

Here’s a few little shots of what our house is looking like these days! If you’ve been to my home you know well it probably will look different the next time you come over! I’m a lover of change and swapping stuff around on a very regular basis. The bones of my decor style are neutral and full of contrast. White, white, white, with earth tones and textures… and lots of black, and more white!

I gravitate to a neutral palette. It’s soothing and simple, and makes mixing and matching an easy task! For color and fun, I use accessory items that are easy to swap out if I want to change the vibe quickly and inexpensively!  HomeGoods is my go-to for something fun and fresh and always a deal!

We’re also big fans of structured and bold pieces of furniture; like the reclaimed wood chandelier from Restoration Hardware (an outlet score!) and the wing back chairs we found at an estate sale and had reupholstered. Both pieces I can easily relocate too!

Natural woven pieces, candles, and fresh plants or flowers are very natural elements that add to the simple and organic vibe that I enjoy. It’s clean, it’s fresh and it’s a great base to constantly re-invent and re-create. Add in some chunky patterns with the accessories and textiles and the design feels bold and fun, but balanced.

Nothing has to be too matchy-matchy either. At our dining set we have two different types of chairs that are all from different places. From fancy custum furniture spots to literally the side of the road, there’s no one spot that I source stuff from. I hunt everywhere.  I love things that are truly one of kind, nothing is perfect, its what make space special and unique. Right now since its been warm, I’ve been using some of my favorite outdoor potted plants as mantle pieces and centerpieces. I love the big pop of green and love that it lasts well beyond a vase of fresh flowers. As always there’s a CJ candle burning, Chad wanted me to do the candles again just so we personally could have them! They are so yum if I do say so myself!

And I always like to add a little whimsy with fresh flowers.  Trader Joes is the best! They have inexpensive and gorgeous florals that can be mixed and matched to make custom flower arrangements for just a few dollars!

Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

Come back soon….

And don’t forget to check out the shop for our summer candles!
