Hiking Spots in LA

Our family loves to hike, and exploring LA in the fall is my fave because the weather is SO beautiful! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite spots so that you can go enjoy them as well!

Top of Reseda/Caballero Canyon Trail: Our neighborhood spot that puts you right above the city! A straightforward dirt single track goes about a mile and a half to an unpaved section of Mulholland Drive. For more specifics on this hike visit this siteTo get to the trailhead: From the meeting between the 101 Freeway and the 405 Freeway, drive west on the 101 Freeway for 4 miles to exit 23 for Reseda Boulevard. At the bottom of the offramp, turn left and head south for 2.2 miles. The trailhead will be on the left and there is lots of roadside parking.

Runyon Canyon/Tree People: Hike and explore in 45-acre Coldwater Canyon Park on Mulholland Drive in the Santa Monica Mountains, offering nature trails and amazing views. The park is located at 12601 Mulholland Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. The park entrance is at the stoplight where Coldwater Canyon Avenue, Franklin Canyon Drive and Mulholland Drive (West) intersect.

Franklin Canyon and Nature Center: Tons of hiking trails and great for bringing little ones because you can take your stroller on the fire road. They also have ponds with turtles and ducks that make the perfect spot for a little picnic!

Malibu Creek State Park: We love to do the waterfall hike and we always have so much fun watching the rock climbers! An extra fun treat is that you can hike to the original MASH set! We are seriously hiking here a couple times a week. We just love it! Such a sweet escape from the city without going far from home!

Paramount Ranch: A great exploring spot for kids because they have a western town and old railroad station. So great for little hikers and great for taking a picnic to enjoy!

I am a huge fan and believer of getting out and exploring what’s in your backyard. I love our city, but I also love enjoying our mountains! Get out there and enjoy it too!
